- אֵדm. (b. h., an apocopated form of אדע, cmp. זוע, אדיותא, נֹאד) vapor, cloud. Gen. R. s. 13 (homil. etym.). אד שהוא שובר אידןוכ׳ cloud is called ēd (destroyer) because it breaks the ēd (distress of scarcity) looked forward to by the speculators in the market. V. אֵיד.
